    Many people battle an internal war inside their hearts and minds. They fight who they don’t want to become and fight who they are. They become caught up in an endless cycle of self-doubt, self-hatred and worthlessness. Some spend the majority of their time living in the future, which only leads to anxiety. Others spend the majority of their time living in the past, which only leads to depression. Dalai Lama once said, “There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday, and the other is called tomorrow.”


    It doesn’t have to be that way.
    You no longer have to suffer.


    You may spend the majority of your life trying to avoid falling into that well of sadness. While avoidance can be a temporary solution, it is not a long-term resolution. Whenever we “sweep something under the rug” it comes out in other ways, resentment, anger, overwhelming feelings and so on. The good news is you don’t have to drown in your sadness or feel stuck for the rest of your life. You can respond actively to something painful, demoralizing, and unfair in your life instead of running from it which only causes self-perpetuating cycles of negative feelings. You have a choice and when you begin using your self-agency, you become free, and no longer bogged down by the burdens of everyday life.

    Deciding to start therapy is not an easy decision. Working on oneself is difficult and challenging, but the benefits you receive are life-changing. The most liberating feeling in the world is getting to a place in your life in which you refuse to allow your happiness to be dictated by your circumstances or other people.
