About
Lea Loudis, M.S., RMFTI
Take the leap of faith.
Asking for help takes enormous courage. It means admitting that we’re… human, despite our best efforts to appear superhuman. However, taking that leap of faith and seeking the support that could benefit us all from time to time can serve as the initial stride in your transformative journey towards growth and change.
It would be my privilege to support you in this journey.
I firmly believe that therapy does not need to be a somber affair. I try to create a safe space where we can delve into your inner world and navigate the twists and turns of life, while infusing the process with moments of joy and light-heartedness. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based techniques. By fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, I aim to empower my clients to tap into their own inner strengths and resources, gain insight into their patterns of thinking and behavior, and develop effective coping strategies for day-to-day stressors. Whether you are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply seeking personal growth, I am committed to walking along side you on the path towards healing and self-discovery.
What does the actual process look like?
In providing brief insight to what the therapeutic process actually looks like, we will first schedule a consultation call to determine if we are the right fit to work together. I will inquire about your presented concerns, goals for therapy, and what motivated you to seek support at this time. What’s important to me is that you receive the appropriate level of care that you need. Therefore, I will always be transparent if I feel your needs exceed my capabilities and, in such case, will provide alternative recommendations for care. On the other hand, if both parties commit to moving forward with services, we will proceed with scheduling our initial session.
What do I use to help you make the transformation happen?
Change starts as early as our first session. In taking a solution-focused approach, my objective is to help you achieve your therapeutic goals and experience the happiness you truly deserve in as little time as possible. Therefore, ideally you will leave our initial session having gained new insight and feeling improved hopefulness about the future. We do this by cutting straight to the root of your concerns, and empower you by shifting your focus from the present problems to your desired outcomes. Once you begin recognizing your own strengths and resources, you become your own agent of change and begin creating the positive changes you always desired.
Through our collaborative and transformative process, you can gain a renewed sense of hope, resilience, and confidence in your ability to overcome challenges and reach your goals.
Therapy is not a one size fits all. Each client is unique, as are their needs, which is why I prefer to take a customized approach to care. As a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern, I utilize a wide range of therapeutic tools and techniques to help individuals, couples, and families navigate their challenges and strengthen their relationships. In addition to working with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, my toolbox consists of concepts and interventions taken from various models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Multi-Systemic Therapy, and Gottman Method.
What motivated me to become a therapist?
My love for the field of Marriage and Family Therapy stems from a combination of personal andacademic experiences. Through my own journey of self-exploration and growth, I came to realize the profound impact that therapy can have on a person’s life. Witnessing the transformative power of therapy firsthand, I felt inspired to pursue a career where I could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
My Background Experience
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in Communications and Media Studies. Later, upon discovering my true passion for helping and empowering others, I obtained a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. This educational experience provided me with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior through a systemic lens, in-depth knowledge of various therapeutic modalities, and invaluable practical experience through internships.
Overall, my clinical experience spans various settings and populations, allowing me to develop a comprehensive skill set in providing effective counseling services. During my time at JAFCO, I provided intensive in-home therapy to families of diverse backgrounds, who were often in the midst of crisis, addressing issues such as aggression, substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, suicidal ideation, and ineffective parenting practices. I served as a student intern at Broward Outreach Center, addressing concerns related to trauma, substance abuse, dual-diagnosis, and domestic violence within the homeless population. I also gained valuable experience during my time at The Brief Therapy Institute, where I counseled individuals, couples, and families, providing support, assessment, psychoeducation, and skill development.
What do I do when I am not doing therapy?
When I’m not practicing therapy, I am usually spending time with my husband, family, friends, and goldendoodle, who is occasionally confused for a small horse. I also enjoy Yoga, Pilates, cooking, and traveling (when time allows).
Do I accept insurance?
